Sun, 09/30/2007 - Dear friends of West Papua, We, from fPcN Germany, the German Free West Papua Campaign, got the opportunity to present a video at the Biennale in Venice at September 6th 2007, 11.35 am under the theme: “The cultural Dimension of Sustainability – Towards an Ecology of Culture”. Afterwards, there is room for discussion with the filmmaker Steffen Keulig, the “jungle child” Sabine Kuegler, a famous writer from Germany as well as with Benny Wenda, the chairman of the Koteka Tribal Assembly and chair of the Free West Papua Campaign UK.

The Thais have not responded to our concerns about the Queen taking the land of Hooh Yoh Akha, in more than two years.
The Queen of Thailand in fact has taken the land from adjacent villages including Pah Nmm Akha, in Ampur Mae Faluang, Chiangrai Province and other villages as well.
We need volunteers and lots of help to change this situation.

WRITTEN DECLARATION CALLS FOR INDEPENDENCE REFERENDUM

EURO-MPs are to call for the EU to intervene in forcing Indonesia to respect human rights in West Papua – and grant the province a free and fair referendum on independence – in a Written Declaration launched this Friday (December 1st) to coincide with West Papua Independence Day.

West Papuan National Coalition for Liberation - Established

Twenty-seven leaders representing different Factions of the West Papuan Independence Movement have agreed in their meeting held in Yambi, Papua New Guinea on the formation of a national unity and reconciliation body, the West Papuan National Coalition for Liberation. The meeting was held between 28 November and 1st December 2005 and was attended by leaders from 18 resistance organizations including the TPN, the Military Arm of the OPM.

Indigenous people resist DNA-project

The ambitious DNA profiling "Genographic project" (See.. http://www3.nationalgeographic.com/genographic) which seeks to retrace the path of human settlement on Earth has been encountering resistance among indigenous people. After a boycott-appeal by the US- American Indigenous Peoples Council on Biocolonialism http://www.ipcb.org, now some Maori and African First Nations have also announced concerns over the project .
